the Perfect saturday

what’s On my mind: Vintage & Music.
This Saturday: Shop Vintage A.M.Go to Show P.M.

Flea Market pal Lizz & I will be selling at the Silver Lake Vintage Market tomorrow. We tried out the Melrose Trading Post a couple times, but are back on the east side for now. Phew.

Then going to check out a friend’s band: theendisthebeginning @ the The Cocaine. A mutual friend books that night and it’s a guaranteed good crowd. I love their sound & am excited to hear the new stuff. I told Clint I’d pull him a few vintage goodies to try on for the show – outcome to be continued…

vintage On shopflick

I got some major love from Shopflick today – I feel loved- ahhh.
The indie fashion site sent out an email blast for L.A. Vintage Exchange.

Make sure to check out my L.A. Vintage Exchange Store on Shopflick & watch my attempt at creating a video :)

if I had

an endless amount of $$$, I’d buy this outfit right now:
What Comes Around Goes Around Natalie Top
What Comes Around Goes Around Vintage Cutoff Shorts
Cleobella Alive Leather Fringe Tote
Ash Maya Woven Flat Thong Gladiator Sandals
Alkemie Jewelry Hamsa Lock Leather Cuff

A just-right combo of comfortable summer basics- it’s worth every cent or $100 bill.

I attended the What Comes Around Goes Around L.A. store launch party a few months ago – the night was surreal meeting owner Gerard Maione and mingling with style-icon Erin Wasson. Now you can buy their vintage-inspired styles online – very nice.

My ex introduced me to Autolux – greg (guitar/vocals) & him have been friends since they were kids.

They are cool & talented & fascinating & liberating & …. just listen:

If you ever have the chance to seem them live, GO!

back To reality

ahhh- what a nice & relaxing 3 day weekend.

Some highlights include:

+ a successful vintage sale on Sat. @ the Silver Lake Vintage Mkt
+ shopping trip to Americana (like the Grove, but better- the place has katsuya for god sake!) – splurged on tinted moisturizer from Kiehls

+ watched Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay & laughed my ass off

+ lazy champagne brunch in Santa Monica @ Shutters on the beach

+ finally, afternoon drinks poolside at the W hotel

Now, back to work.

hidden Treasure

I discovered a hidden treasure & am now obsessed. Years ago my uncle took the time to upload hundreds of my grandfather’s pictures online. I recently spent hours digging and am captivated by their clothes– houses- cars = lifestyle. I’m going to print off a bunch to frame & I can’t wait to re-use as inspiration- like for a blog header, or something … :)

act Naturally

While researching- aka flipping through past issues of anOther Mag online- my bliss was interrupted with slit perplexity. To boost Issue 13 the publication lined up 13 actresses- including favs like Parker Posey & Chloe Sevigny- for their feature: Inner Visions.

The magazine had two requirements for the actresses: bring your own outfit and act naturally. While I enjoyed the line up, I am wondering about some of the ladies lack-of-outfits and extremely unnatural poses.

shop Sunday @ melrose & fairfax

Lizz & I are selling this Sunday @ The Melrose Trading Post.

We have lots of new goodies including: light-weight boyfriend blazers, adorable floral rompers and sexy silk dresses & tops.

to Sequin or to jumpsuit

I’m attending a Vh1 80’s theme party tomorrow night at the Faith Connexion House. The showroom / party spot is conveniently located on sunset strip & the girls are known to have a good time. Vh1 is filming the event – my unfortunate lack of cable & fortunate dis-taste for Vh1 may prevent me from seeing the episode when it airs. Now what to wear- sequins or a jumpsuit?

I might have as well assumed this would happen:

These days are long gone:

vintage All weekend long

Lizz & I are busy girls this weekend – whether you’re an east-sider or west-sider- we’re in the neighborhood. come say hi & try on some of our new finds.

mel The model

Combined forces w/ Lizz to have a photo shoot at her studio with new found model- Mel. She was adorable & a natural. Stayed tuned for the sale on Etsy – up for grabs St. John knit one-piece, floral vintage party dress and amazing 80’s destroyed jeans.

l.a. Farmers market

The below wraps up our farmers market purchases this afternoon @ The Grove – the smoothies & caramel apple are long gone.

While at Nordstrom’s, I did some flats field research – anytime I’m spending over $200 – it gets serious.

Also confirmed today- L.A. Vintage Exchange will be selling at the Melrose Trading Post next Sunday. Can not waiT.

graceful

Walking home after an enjoyable lunch yesterday- I did a nose-dive onto sunset blvd and twisted my ankle terribly.

I now have one ankle, one cankle. Ugh.

Might have to see a dr. – for sure- no heels for awhile.
